Alicia Plummer Trunk Show

Alicia Plummer is an accomplished knitwear designer of over 10 years, with nearly 250 available patterns online and in print publications. We're thrilled to offer an in-person view of a collection of her designs in store now through the end of March! With a range of styles, we're sure you'll find a design you love that will inspire your next cast on.

Alicia has a keen eye for detail, and always manages to balance elegant design with everyday wearability. To quote the designer herself, “life is complicated enough, so I want my knits to be like my life – simple, but full of beauty and feeling”; “I write patterns to live life in”. Her patterns are accessible to a range of skill levels, with many stunning beginner-friendly styles. One of our favorite aspects of Alicia’s design work is her dedication to inclusivity, offering patterns for garments in all-gender adult and children’s sizing and a wide range of body measurements.

Some of my favorite designs in the collection have even inspired preparation for future cast ons, so stay tuned for more versions of these being worn around the store!

I plan on making my own version of the Campsider, a swingy swoncho with beautiful drape, easy mesh lace and a forgiving silhouette that is perfect for post-winter wear. I've picked out one of my favorite colors of The Fibre Co. Acadia to make it in, a yarn with fiber content of Merino/alpaca/silk very comparable to the original one the designer used. I've used this yarn for a few other projects before, and it really is a dream to work with.

Another piece that's even more beautiful up close is the CQ sweater. It's worked seamlessly from the top down, and would be a great project for those that are not yet ready to take on a stranded colorwork sweater, but like the look of one. Using a few different contrast colors in slip stitch texture and stripes, you're sure to make a unique piece that you'll reach for over and over again. I'd suggest a combination of Harrisville Highland and Feederbrook Farm Entropy DK for a yarn combination that really blooms. Bonus? It's an easy adjustment to make a short sleeved version!

I think one of the sleeper-hits of the show is the Garnered Cardi, a piece I've had on my to-do list for a while. It has gorgeous all over lace, but is made in a more substantial yarn (like my pick for it, Berroco Ultra Wool Chunky) and seems like it will be the perfect layering piece to dress up a basic t-shirt in the springtime or over light dresses on chilly summer evenings. Alicia offers a modification in the pattern to make this piece in a lighter weight yarn as well, so fear not if you're nervous about casting on a bulky project with warmer weather right around the corner!

Curious about more of the pieces in the show? Check them out now in store (here through the end of March) or take a look at the collection online and shop our suggestions directly.
