Colorwork Techniques
$80.00 USD
Session

Love the idea of adding some color to your knitting?

In this class we will learn Stranded Colorwork Knitting -- a bit of color theory as well as knitting techniques.  After completing the class you will be ready to tackle that colorwork yoke sweater, Fair Isle hat or colorful cowl.

For those who want to venture further into the techniques of colorwork we are offering a lesson on steeking as well.

Session 1: Color Theory and Stranding Techniques, March 7, 10:00-1:00, $80

In this session we will discuss color theory, learn and practice stranding techniques. Homework will need to be completed before class.

Homework to complete before class: Using a dark colored Worsted Weight yarn and US 7 16-inch circular needle, Cast On 126 stitches, join to work in the round placing a marker to mark the beginning of the round. (Purl 1, Knit 1)  repeating around to the end for 1 x 1 ribbing.  Work for 2 inches as measured from  the cast on edge. Switch to a 24 inch US 8 needle and knit two rounds.  Please bring at least one other color of yarn to class that is much lighter than your cast on color.  You may also bring three other colors or worsted weight yarn for a total of five colors if desired.

 Steeking, May 2 from 10-12:30, $60

We will discuss steeking and practice the technique on a small swatch that will be made before class. Homework instructions will be provided once you sign up for class.
